The Taliban have rampaged across the county and claimed the provincial capitals of Ghor, Badghis and Helmand shortly after the group captured Kandahar and Herat, Afghanistan’s second and third-largest cities with virtually no resistance. The US was in Afghanistan at the request of its elected government. That elected government will be replaced now by the Taliban which will impose Islamic fascism on the rest of the population. 3000 US forces were preventing this catastrophe.

In a slimy memo released yesterday the Biden Harris Administration State Department spokesperson Ned Price said: Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke yesterday with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani to stress that the United States remains invested in the security and stability of Afghanistan in the face of violence by the Taliban.

Secretary Blinken and Secretary Austin informed President Ghani that the United States is reducing our civilian footprint in Kabul in light of the evolving security situation and will accelerate the tempo of Special Immigration Visa (SIV) flights.

The Secretaries both emphasized that the United States remains committed to maintaining a strong diplomatic and security relationship with the Government of Afghanistan. During the call, Secretary Blinken, Secretary Austin, and President Ghani exchanged views on the security environment in Afghanistan, efforts to curb violence, and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Secretary Blinken affirmed that the United States remained committed to support a political solution to the conflict.

This is, of course, total bullshit.

In less than a week, the Taliban have claimed at least 15 of the nation’s 34 provincial capitals. Clashes between the Taliban and Afghan forces have intensified as foreign militaries, including the US and NATO, are scheduled to withdraw from Afghanistan by August 31.

They are picking up abandoned US military materiel including humvees, rockets, guns and all the other apparatus an unplanned departure leaves behind. The Afghan air force immediately surrendered to the Taliban in multiple air bases, and yesterday they took over more than five military airports and captured many aircraft including operational Su-17s and Mi-24s.

The Pentagon is moving thousands of Marines into position for an evacuation of the American Embassy and U.S. citizens in Kabul as the Biden administration braces for a collapse of the Afghan government within 30 days. UPDATE. IT HAS ALREADY FALLEN. Canada is sending its special forces, and the UK is deploying 600 troops to evacuate citizens and Kabul embassy staff.

The Taliban are vicious barbarians purporting to be muslims. As they march across the country, they have rounded up young single women as sex slaves and removed other women from public-facing jobs

…fighters from the group walked into the offices of Azizi Bank in the southern city of Kandahar and ordered nine women working there to leave. The gunmen escorted them to their homes and told them not to return to their jobs. Instead, they explained that male relatives could take their place, according to three of the women involved and the bank’s manager.

The war in Afghanistan was long and fundamentally flawed. It cost us a trillion dollars. We should never have been there at all. What began with the US arming and stoking Islamic radicalism through the Mujahideen in the 1980s in order to fight the USSR, morphed into the post 9/11 war. No one has ever prospered or won in in Afghanistan, but in the 1970s their women wore the latest western fashions and families led a normal life. Then came 40 years of war. The few troops that were still in country gave the Afghan people a sense of security and hope. Girls could go back to school. Women could work. These humanitarian values were supporting and strengthening the community. It was a low cost-high impact strategy and one that should have been ended through a trade for peace agreement.

Instead, the Taliban are negotiating with the Chinese and Americans are ignominiously leaving in transports accompanied by our infantry. Afghanistan is relatively close to China – much closer than Africa. And like Africa, Afghanistan is chock full of rare earth metals. China has no humanitarian scruples. It pays whoever has the power and there are no ethical strings attached. No protection for child labor, discrimination, health and safety – the Chinese only care about themselves and the CCP. It will be interesting to see how fast the Russians get involved too. They have longed to control Afghanistan for hundreds of years.

Every one of us paid taxes to fund this war and our undignified scurrying away. Our men and women in uniform gave their lives and limbs. So many resources were wasted.
